Melbourne

Melbourne is the capital city of the state of Victoria and it sits the south-eastern area of Australia . The large and wide Yarra River is like a green streamer which runs through the city centre, many cafes are along the bank of the Yarra River, and it presents an enthralling scene.

Melbourne has a population of 3345000 people, they consist of many backgrounds which means there are many Chinese, Vietnamese, Greeks, Italians in there. The main language is English, but many residents of some suburbs speak their own language like Vietnamese or Chinese, therefore English is their 2nd language. So Melbourne is a very multicultural city.

The climate of Melbourne is common, in summer the average temperature is 21-35 degrees; in winter the minimum is 2-3 degrees. But sometimes there could be four seasons in one day, which means the temperature changes quickly. The winter is often
very cold, even though snow is not very common.

The main industries in Melbourne are car manufacture and clothing manufacture.
But the clothing industry has been decreasing as imports from China have increased in recent years.

Melbourne is the music and arts centre of Australia, there are many clubs and bars are resounded with music. There are lots of art galleries, museums in there.Melbourne has many places to visit. There is a very interesting zoo which means most of Australia’s famous animals, birds are settled in there. Like most cities of Australia, Melbourne has some very beautiful and clean beaches but the water is cooler than Sydney’s. The Crown Casino in the city centre is very large and modern; the Melbourne Cricket Ground is very famous... many tourists are magnetized in Melbourne.

Also Melbourne is a large port, many ships visit each day. Melbourne has a large public transport system that includies trains, buses and electric trams in city centre, especially the tickets are very cheap, it easy for people to go out. If you are a gastronome you will find much delicious food from around the world in Melbourne.
